SEKAI ITTO was established in 1884 (Meiji 17) by the first generation Yaemon Minakata, who took over land and buildings that had been rice warehouses from the Kishu clan and started an alcoholic beverage manufacturing business in Wakayama City. The liquor manufacturing industry and the liquor wholesale business, which was added in 1917 (Taisho 6), have been the driving forces behind our business to date. The sake name and company name was named by Marquis Shigenobu Okuma, who served as the Prime Minister of Japan. Just as Minakata Kumagusu, the son of founder Yaemon and a world-famous biologist and folklorist, spread his wings around the world, the alcoholic beverage manufacturing industry continues to expand not only domestically but globally. In the general liquor wholesale business, we are affectionately known as "Itto" and will continue to grow as a company closely connected to our hometown of Wakayama. Our slogan, , expresses the passion and spirit of challenge of all of our employees, who are and are committed to responding to the changing times and pursuing even better flavors across the company.
